I was watching a documentary on the amazon rain forests on NGC. As usual, the program was wonderful, but one sentence which the narrator said captured my attention. Somewhere in the middle of the sentence, he said "Everything here depends on everything else".
I thought it was a super cool statement! A bit of googling and net-search revealed that, ancient scholars called this - 'Pratityasamutpada'. Which in a nutshell (thats my brain-size) means 'the cause and the effects are inter-dependent and inter-linked'.

I am science guy, biological science, to be precise. To me this converts to advocating the idea that scientific problems in biology should be addressed using a systems biology approach and not the more common and widely practiced reduction-istic approach.

As of now, I shall just wait, watch, shoot and post....when time permits.

cheers!!!

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

According to Mr. Gandhi, these are the stages of a winning strategy of non violent activism, against the 'galloping imperial forces of the mighty British empire'. I don't think many (of the few) people outside my family who read this blog would understand why I highlighted the last part of my previous sentence. (The statement has an undercurrent to it, kind of a heat seeking missile, and I know it will find its target).
I too had, not exact but similar experiences when I had bought my camera (and a dry cabinet to keep them) couple of yrs ago . But then I excelled Mr.Gandhi, ...Just Imagine Churchill, Attlee and Mountbatten in Khadi whites with a gandhi topi.
Dear all...I achieved that.

Why is that my fotos always lack light ? or why do I end up shooting on cloudy days ? Well, shooting at night can be forgiven, as singapore's Central Business District (CBD) looks better when the lights come down. Hmm.....happens when you belong to the Dark Side-Nikon. Oh yeah, Nikon has finally brought out its first Full Frame D3..that must be a beast....ahem...I am pretty sure I am not going to even touch that piece of machine for the next few years...but it kind of evens out the battle field with cannon. I am sure the Pro's dont give a shoot about the Nikon-Cannon war, its the half-baked amateurs like me who pick up arguments with quarter-baked cannon guys over which system is better. Whatever the truth may be, every Nikonian agrees that cannon has better electronics in their bodies and a wider lens range and every cannonian sub-conciously wishes for a nikon system. Theres no better example to prove that 'The grass is greener on the other side- in this case its definitely taller'

Shooting on a cloudy day is such a sore-job...man....so much so that the available light makes off-white and orange look similar. Thankfully photoshop helps in salvaging many such fotos. Just playing around with the hue/saturation and curves generates some "not-so-bad" effects. This would certainly upset the purists , who claim it to be some sort of pseudo-artistc digital stunt....I wouldnt disagree with them...I wont agree with them either.
"...the wait ...." Anand suggeted that I work with the frame colour...and I fully appreciate his comments for more than one reasons. One, my colour sense or rather the lack of it and his far superior sense for the same. I just dont seem to work out the perfect colour...everything looks equaly good or equally bad!!! Anyways...Just that the correction took quite some time. That would prove how well-visited my blogspace is. Who cares, when I couldnt any less. But the fact is that how much ever I try to change myself in processing my fotos, i never manage to do. I wish I could drive myself to process all those RAW files and put them on net for the experts to comment....hmm....i shall try.

Its been a really long time since I have contributed to my own blog....well...I am a grad student, so I can claim to be busy with my experiments. Whatever..however..anyways...the true reason being, I havent touched my cam for some time. Maannn..what do you shoot when the haze engulfed everything "shootable" in Singapore ?
Finally, the haze cleared (courtesy Raingods) and it happened to be the full moon day !!!

As far I was (and Iam ) concerned, I was just another guy who just wanted to click the shutter button once a camera is placed in his palm. But it when a friend of mine bought a DSLR,and I clicked a couple of shots, I happened to realize how powerful that little piece of equipment can be in being an extension of your eye- in seeing what you want to see and brain- in thinking how you thought.
I am in no way a romantic person. But that doesnt prevent me from noticing beautiful and awesome things..does it ? Well...the problem comes in when you want to share that with someone...it ain't a problem for a poet, a writer or a painter...well what would a person do if he desperately wants to convey or share what he felt when he saw something really spectacular...he picks up PHOTOGRAPHY !!!
